Chain Thoughts

For Christmas last year, I brought home several old tree branches I found in the field near our home.

Naturally, I hung them from the ceiling.
And dripped ornaments and votives from their branches.
It was lovely.  (And The Monkey loved it.)

But they've been bare as can be these past several months.
Not really the most attractive thing, skeletal branches jutting down into the midst of a room.

So I resorted to the paper-chain making of my childhood days.
Lost in simple pleasure and repetetive motion, listening to Nina Simone
 and eating freshly picked strawberries.

It was silly.  And simple.  Yet striking.
A grown-up paper chain.
I enjoyed making it so.

Then I had a chain thought.
And went out to the studio.
