Parking Lot Magic

There's a festival of lights downtown in Fuquay Varina.
Not a tree lining the street is left without burning bulbs.
And somehow it makes the town even more charming.

The Chamber put a large tree up in the middle of our only parking lot.

Light-laden branches illuminate the old cement buildings on either side.

I found a bit of magic there the other night.

Sometimes it just takes seeing things through a different shutter speed.
There is more to love when you slow down.

A bit like time travel, I would think.

A bit like dreaming.

A bit like childhood.

Like memories coming back.
Or growing dim.

Like laughter, if it were a physical form.

Like freedom.

Or a fairytale.

Even a bit like filigree.

There is magic downtown the parking lot.
And everywhere else we choose to slow down.

New work up tomorrow.

Happy Holidays!

  1. I feel I am sitting next to Captain Kirk in the Enterprise : ) Wow!

  2. Beautiful, like sparklers and fireflies- everything is a more special when it has a little sparkle.

  3. I would imagine that this is what it would look like to be ripped from this universe into an alternate one. (or maybe I just watch too much Fringe)

  4. Beautiful photos, beautiful words :) Happy Holidays to you!

  5. Thanks for sharing your town with us Jess! The lights are just beautiful.

  6. Oooh I love seeing Christmas lights! So pretty!
We like to drive out to find those super decorated houses too, you know.. the ones with the synchronized music light shows.

  7. F-V is such a pretty little town any time of year, I can imagine how pretty it is during the holidays.

    Thanks for sharing.

  8. happy Holidays to you too Jess!
it is like a fairy tale...only we get to be a part of it!
