Small Stones

For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end
is to make a beginning.
- T.S. Eliot

I thought I might try this challenge
as a way of continuing to fight
the word block.

1 January 13

There is only treelight and candlelight and
a wet torrent teeming over the roof above.

As I sit in this semi-silence, I wish for sleep,
and I think, Day One... and how fitting it is
that it has all begun with the washing rain.

And George Eliot echoes in my head,
"It's never too late to be what you might have been."

Happy New Year.
Thank you for seeing me through.
